Background
As China enters the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, it is focusing on developing new types of productivity and promoting the internationalization of the industrial chain related to these new types of productivity. At the same time, other countries and regions are also trying to adapt to the reshaping of global supply chains, as well as to the upgrading towards digitalization and sustainability. There are also plans and initiatives for modern development. Currently, Chinese companies expanding into foreign markets should first draw on the experiences and lessons learned from multinational companies that entered the Chinese market during the reform and opening-up period. They can gain support from the practices of central state-owned enterprises and large listed companies. Special attention should be paid to regions where expansion into foreign markets is taking place, such as ASEAN, MENA, Central Asia, and Central and Eastern Europe. By leveraging the expertise in various aspects like finance, law, taxation, business, data, intelligence, and finance, these companies can find ways to break through obstacles and create a mutually beneficial system.
The “New International Expansion Strategies” series is led by Ling Hu Ming, a partner at Longan Law Firm and a expert in foreign-related matters, compliance, and new governance. This series is also supported by the “New International Cooperation Community NICC”, a joint initiative with international think tanks, domestic and foreign cooperation institutions, and experts in various fields related to finance, law, taxation, business, data, intelligence, and finance. The sixth issue of the “New International Expansion Strategies” series—“Compliance in Business Expansion under International Sanctions and China’s Countermeasures” will be available on Peking University Law School’s online platform at 3:30 pm on May 26.

In the sixth issue of the “New International Expansion Strategies” series, Lawyer Ling Hu Ming will serve as the host of this event. Pan Yetong, a lawyer from Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm and the deputy director of the Longan Guangzhou Sanctions and Double Anti-Compliance Committee, will give a presentation on “Compliance in Business Expansion under International Sanctions and China’s Countermeasures”. Benjamin Wells, a founding partner at Belgravia Law in the UK, will present a presentation on “UK and EU Sanctions: Practical Considerations for Chinese Companies Engaged in Cross-Border Trade”.
