To further promote legal education for teenagers and strengthen campus safety measures, the “Legal Path for Children” legal education project for 2025-2026, organized by the Guangzhou Baiyun District Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Baiyun District Education Bureau, continues to be carried out. Lawyer Liu Yali from Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm was invited to Lejiang Primary School in Baiyun District. She delivered a practical and informative legal lecture on preventing campus bullying, using professional expertise to protect the growth of children and spread the seeds of the rule of law.

Precise Legal Education: Clarifying the Boundaries of Campus Bullying

In the class, Lawyer Liu Yali, taking into account the cognitive abilities of primary school students, avoided dry legal text and used simple language and real-life examples related to the school environment. She clearly explained the four common forms of campus bullying: physical bullying (pushing, beating), verbal bullying (insults, offensive nicknames), social bullying (isolation, exclusion), and online bullying (spreading rumors, malicious messages). She also made it clear to the students that bullying is not just “small incidents” or “jokes” – it is an illegal act that violates legal boundaries.

She specifically corrected the misconception that “minors are not responsible” and emphasized that teenagers who engage in bullying also bear legal responsibilities. Those who commit minor acts may have to pay civil compensation or receive disciplinary actions from the school. Those who commit serious acts and reach the legal age may face criminal penalties. This helped the students understand the legal principle that “never do evil even if it seems small.”

Practical Guidelines: Teaching Children How to Protect Themselves

Regarding how to deal with campus violence, Lawyer Liu Yali provided clear and actionable advice, summarized as “three no’s and three musts”:

  • Don’t become the aggressor, don’t be a silent victim, don’t be an indifferent observer.
  • Be brave enough to say “no”, seek help from teachers or parents promptly, and keep evidence (chat records, photos of injuries, witness information).

She patiently guided the students: When facing bullying, first ensure safety, don’t fight directly, and immediately inform trustworthy adults. If you see a classmate being bullied, don’t watch or participate, report it to the teacher, and be a defender of justice. The classroom was full of interaction, and the students asked many questions. Lawyer Liu answered them carefully, ensuring that legal knowledge was truly understood and remembered.

This “Legal Path for Children” activity in schools is another example of Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) actively responding to society’s call and fulfilling its social responsibilities. It aims to support the healthy growth of children through legal education.

In the future, Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) will continue to focus on public welfare, leverage its professional legal services, and encourage lawyers to participate in various legal and social activities. By using professional expertise, they will contribute to the development of a legal society.
