On September 3, Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm held a sharing session titled “The Key Points and Pain Points of Intra-Firm Collaboration: How to Better Build a Personal Reputation for Collaboration”. The session was organized by the Longan Guangzhou Young Lawyers Working Committee and was designed to address how lawyers at the same firm can work together more effectively. Senior partner Ge Xiangrong, deputy director of the Longan Guangzhou Management Committee, gave a presentation on “Solutions for Internal Business Collaboration and Conflicts of Interest.” Several senior partners and young lawyers also formed a roundtable guest panel to discuss improving the quality and efficiency of intra-firm collaboration and coordinated development.

At the opening, Xie Xin, director of the Longan Guangzhou Young Lawyers Working Committee and a senior partner, welcomed the colleagues present. He said intra-firm collaboration is an important support for lawyers seeking to grow together and pool their strengths, and that a healthy cooperative atmosphere and personal reputation are important to every lawyer’s professional development. He encouraged colleagues to speak up, resolve questions through discussion, and grow together through sharing.

In the presentation segment, Ge Xiangrong spoke about the firm’s internal rules on business collaboration. Starting with the background and objectives of the rules, he explained the core definition and working guidelines for internal business collaboration, covering areas such as determining client ownership, managing pooled-resource business, and business referral and development cooperation. He clarified the boundaries of rights and responsibilities and the rules on entitlements in different business scenarios, stressed the importance of prior written agreements for conducting business in a compliant manner, and set out the conditions under which rights and interests may be protected.
Ge also reviewed the types of conflicts that can easily arise in intra-firm collaboration, introduced the dual risk identification and declaration-review prevention mechanism, and explained the step-by-step dispute resolution path of negotiation, mediation and adjudication. The session helped participating lawyers better understand the standards of conduct for internal business collaboration and become familiar with practical points on collaboration allocation and business mediation.

The roundtable discussion was moderated by Cai Mengfei, a member of the Longan Guangzhou Young Lawyers Working Committee. The guest panel consisted of Ge Xiangrong, deputy director of the Longan Guangzhou Management Committee and senior partner, senior partner Ren Chao, and He Ruiping, who took questions and exchanged views on building a high-quality intra-firm collaboration system. The guests focused on balancing the expectations of multiple parties, presenting individual professional value and collaborative strengths, and establishing a scientific and reasonable collaboration allocation mechanism, sharing practical experience and ideas drawn from different business scenarios. The session followed an interactive model in which experienced partners pass on knowledge while young lawyers exchange views and develop, providing a platform for colleagues to share experience and improve their overall ability to work collaboratively.
After the presentations, the event moved into an open exchange session. Participating lawyers raised questions based on their own practice on issues such as business collaboration and building a personal reputation. The roundtable guest panel answered the questions one by one, adding professional perspectives and practical suggestions based on their experience in practice and management, which helped address the participants’ questions about collaboration. The session was substantive and the atmosphere was lively and constructive.

The sharing session was grounded in day-to-day practice and focused on improving quality and capability. Its content was professional and practical, and it further built consensus on intra-firm collaboration and strengthened Longan Guangzhou’s atmosphere of joint contribution and shared success. The firm said it will continue to respond to lawyers’ development needs by regularly holding high-quality, practice-oriented sharing sessions, bringing together the strengths of its lawyers and turning the advantages of collaboration into stronger client service.
