Recently, Attorney Jiang Sheng of Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm was invited to join the teaching team of the Master of Arts in Communication — Film and New Media Producing Specialisation at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU), where he teaches a one-semester series of Film and Media Law courses for master’s students on the producing track.
The Film and New Media Producing Specialisation at BNBU draws on Hong Kong Baptist University’s long-standing foundation and faculty resources in Asian communication education. It aims to train professionals for the film, media and cultural and creative industries who combine producing management capability, an international industry perspective and compliance awareness. The curriculum covers core modules including film project development, producing management, investment and financing, distribution and marketing, and legal practice, with an emphasis on close connection between theory and real industry scenarios. Film and Media Law is one of its key practice-oriented courses.

The course taught by Attorney Jiang follows the principle of giving equal weight to “theoretical foundations and practical operations,” and is structured as a thematic system covering the entire film industry chain. Topics include an overview of law and the film industry, the fundamentals of contract law and its application in film, copyright law, compliance pathways in film production, distribution and commercialisation, a comparison of the film review systems of the mainland and Hong Kong, protection of the personality rights of performers, and a special topic on AIGC in film.
