To ensure more legal professionals’ public welfare activities “are seen, understood, and spread,” legal professionals engaged in public welfare scattered across various fields were united into a collective, using their expertise to contribute to society. On September 5, 2025, which is the Chinese Charity Day, Longan Guangzhou Law Firm officially established the Longan Guangzhou Public Welfare Committee.
Sha Yuchen, one of the founding partners of Longan Guangzhou, as well as the deputy director of the Wubao Committee of the Guangdong Lawyers Association and the director of the Wubao Committee of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association, and Lawyer Qin Jianlong, attended this event and delivered a speech. The event also specially invited Ms. Peng Hui, a representative of the Women’s Federation in Dagang Town, Nansha District, and the president of the Guangzhou Nansha Women’s Volunteer Promotion Association, Lawyer Zhang Zhentao, who is one of the founders of the Hundred Legal Vice Principals and a partner of the post-graduation public welfare fund, Lawyer Zhang Zhengtao, as deputy director of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association’s Legal Professional Committee for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Free Trade Zone, and one of the first group of foreign-related lawyer experts in Guangzhou, Lawyer Zhang Yang, as well as Ge Xiangrong, deputy director of the Longan Guangzhou Management Committee and senior partner, and Cai Jiahui, a partner of Longan Guangzhou and director of the Public Welfare Committee, who gave presentations. Cai Jiahui introduced the committee and shared the original intention behind its establishment, while Zhang Shuyao, a partner of Longan Guangzhou and deputy director of the Public Welfare Committee, served as the host of the event.

Lawyer Sha Yuchen welcomed all those who are passionate about public welfare to Longan Guangzhou. She mentioned that the mission of legal professionals is not only to protect the legal rights of clients, but also to fulfill social responsibilities and promote social justice. In the field of public welfare, Lawyer Sha has always focused on promoting educational equity, especially for girls’ education. Through Tencent Public Welfare, she has participated in nearly 20 one-on-one donation activities. The establishment of the Longan Guangzhou Public Welfare Committee will further make the public welfare activities of the law firm more regular, professional, diverse, personalized, in-depth, and long-term. She hopes to work together with other colleagues on the platform of the Public Welfare Committee to create a more humane and responsible Longan Guangzhou.

Then, Sha Yuchen, one of the founding partners of Longan Guangzhou, presented letters of appointment to Cai Jiahui, director of the Public Welfare Committee, and Lawyer Gao Mingguang, an expert advisor. Qin Jianlong, deputy director of the Wubao Committee of the Guangdong Lawyers Association and director of the Wubao Committee of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association, presented letters of appointment to four lawyers: Zhang Shuyao, Liu Lixin, Yin Ye, and Wang Jing, who are deputy directors of the Public Welfare Committee. Cai Jiahui, a partner of Longan Guangzhou and director of the Public Welfare Committee, presented letters of appointment to the secretariat and all committee members.

After the ceremony, Cai Jiahui introduced the original intention and future plans of the Longan Guangzhou Public Welfare Committee. She said that the committee aims to create a “visible platform” where those who do public welfare can be seen, and those who need help can be found. The committee will actively carry out four tasks: 1+N collaboration, professional empowerment, brand promotion, and resource encouragement, to further enhance Longan Guangzhou’s brand influence in public welfare legal services.

Ms. Peng Hui shared her stories and experiences over the years in volunteer work, using videos and pictures to illustrate the theme of “small and great love in women’s volunteerism.” She also explained why she became involved in public welfare. She then talked about key points of traffic legal education and her experiences in visiting families affected by traffic accidents.

Lawyer Zhang Zhentao shared his thoughts on “using professionalism to protect children’s childhood and preserve culture—the power of ‘love + professionalism’ for lawyers.” He introduced the “post-graduation public welfare fund” and its three key projects: the Hundred Legal Vice Principals program, book donations, and one-on-one support for poor students. He also described the public welfare legal services provided by the fund in Yunnan County Central Primary School, Maoming Hongguang Primary School, Yunling Primary School in Yunnan Xiajinchang Township, and Xueyi Primary School in Gansu Wangyao Township.

Lawyer Zhang Yang focused on “the integration of young lawyers’ public welfare activities and business development.” He started with the challenges faced by young lawyers and explained the importance of public welfare activities for their careers. He then shared how public welfare activities can be combined with business development, including media and legal education, practices for disabled people, and cooperation with organizations like the Guangdong Intelligence Association. He also discussed child protection and school legal education, as well as writing books on legal education.

Lawyer Ge Xiangrong shared his thoughts on “the meaning of public welfare—the process of establishing a alumni scholarship.” He started with the location of his alma mater and stories from his hometown, then described his journey and actions in establishing the scholarship. He said that the scholarship aims to gather alumni’s love, reward outstanding students, and promote communication among alumni, thereby supporting the development of his hometown. He also shared three key points of his experience in public welfare.
