Recently, the FDI Moot Shenzhen 2026 (International Investment Arbitration Moot Competition Shenzhen Cup 2026), organized by the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), concluded successfully. The competition attracted 38 teams and over 400 participants from universities including Peking University, Fudan University, the University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Sun Yat-sen University. Ou Yingshi, a partner at Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm, was invited to serve as an arbitrator for three matches during the online scoring rounds and offline elimination rounds.
International investment arbitration typically involves complex issues such as the tribunal’s jurisdiction over the dispute, whether the investor and its investment are protected under the relevant international investment agreement, interpretation and application of treaty obligations, whether host state measures constitute a breach, and the determination and calculation of damages. By simulating real international investment arbitration procedures, the competition requires teams to submit written pleadings and debate specific legal issues entirely in English, placing high demands on arbitrators’ professional analytical skills, English proficiency, and ability to manage hearings.
Ou has long been dedicated to foreign-related legal services, with a particular focus on cutting-edge legal and practical issues in international investment arbitration. Drawing on her practical experience in foreign-related legal services and international arbitration, she provided professional and practice-oriented advice to the teams on case fact analysis, legal reasoning, oral presentation strategies, and responses to tribunal questions, grounded in solid legal expertise, an international perspective, and a professional understanding of investment dispute resolution mechanisms.
