With the theme “The Path to Progress for Interns”, Lawyer Wei Guoxiang first introduced matters related to the internship period. For example, it is necessary to focus on practical training, strengthen the understanding of litigation procedures, substantive law, judicial interpretations, and guiding cases involved in the cases handled. It is also necessary to develop critical thinking skills and learn to consider different perspectives when dealing with similar cases. In addition, it is important to avoid the prohibited behaviors stipulated in the “Internship Management Measures for Lawyers in Guangdong Province”. Regarding the issue of case review, which is of great concern to interns, Lawyer Wei suggested that interns should write a summary after handling each case, and promptly review and summarize their experiences and shortcomings in client communication, team collaboration, litigation processes, and courtroom interactions. This will help them improve their practical skills over time.
In terms of preparing internship materials, Lawyer Wei pointed out that the content should be detailed and professional, including contract agreements, letters from the firm, power of attorney, lawsuits, appeals, responses, arguments, judgments, etc. In terms of format, it should be attractive and well-organized. It is recommended to bind the materials into books, with indexes, page numbers, etc. Before the interview assessment, it is important to be calm and confident, and to have a clean and appropriate appearance.
Then, Lawyer Wei introduced the basic process of the interview assessment. During the self-introduction, it is important to prepare information about educational background, internship duration, and personal experiences. During the basic practical skills assessment, emphasis is placed on business skills. It is recommended that interns be familiar with the materials related to the cases they handle. Their answers during the interview should be clear and concise, using legal language. During the assessment of ideological and political qualities, professional ethics, and professional discipline, it is important to be familiar with related ideological and political, professional ethical, and professional discipline content. Lawyer Wei also introduced specific matters that should be noted during the internship assessment.
Since 2022, in order to help interns of this firm better prepare for professional assessments, Longan Guangzhou has held the “Path to Progress for Interns” training activities for three consecutive years. This is of great significance in improving the professional and assessment skills of interns, helping them build confidence in their practice, and clarifying their direction in practice.
