On May 30, 2024, the Longan Guangzhou Law Firm Exchange (Sixth Session) and Law Firm Operation and Management Experience Exchange Meeting was successfully held! Directors, management partners, and senior partners from nearly 30 law firms gathered in Longan Guangzhou to engage in in-depth discussions on law firm operation and management experience. Director Liu Xin of the Longan Guangzhou Management Committee, Director Zhang Xinqiang, a supervisor of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association Board of Supervisors and founder of Guangdong Tiansheng Law Firm, and Lawyer Yang Chen, deputy director of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association Law Firms Development and Promotion Working Committee, attended the event and delivered speeches. He briefly introduced the main agenda of the event: the first part was a special presentation by the Longan Guangzhou “Fire of Inheritance” (Sixth Session). This time, Lawyer Luo Jie and Lawyer Wang Huixia, deputy directors and secretary-generals of the Longan Bay Area ASEAN Law Research Center, were invited to give presentations. Director Liu Xin first extended a warm welcome to the brother law firms that attended Longan Guangzhou. Director Liu introduced that the “Fire of Inheritance” in Longan Guangzhou is an activity that allows partners in law firms to exchange, learn from, promote each other, and empower each other at a professional level. It aims to pass on business and management experience from one person to another through in-depth exchanges, thereby promoting internal business exchanges, experience sharing, and team management experience among partners in law firms, as well as discussions on industry challenges. In recent years, the legal service industry has faced severe challenges. The number of lawyers practicing law has been increasing, and more and more legal service companies, legal consulting firms, and legal brokers have entered the market to compete. However, the total market for legal services is decreasing. In this context, how law firms, lawyer teams, and practicing lawyers should respond is also a topic that the “Fire of Inheritance” can explore in depth. Regarding the second part of the event, the exchange meeting on law firm operation and management, Director Liu emphasized that this exchange is more about inviting everyone to share excellent experiences from brother law firms rather than just allowing them to learn from Longan’s experiences.

He first expressed his joy at being able to hold the first meeting of the ninth Guangzhou Lawyers Association Law Firm Directors and Management Partner Leadership Training Course at Peking University in Longan Guangzhou. This event is also the sixth session of the “Fire of Inheritance” in Longan. He hoped that the participants in this class would actively absorb the knowledge passed down by Longan Guangzhou. Lawyer Wang Huixia briefly introduced the background, establishment ceremony, team structure, and legal services of the Longan Bay Area ASEAN Law Research Center. She gave a presentation titled “Adhering to Long-Termism – A New Journey in Overseas Business”. Lawyer Wang explained that foreign legal services have shifted from providing legal services to foreign enterprises in China to providing legal services to Chinese enterprises abroad. By analyzing China’s foreign investment situation in recent years, Lawyer Wang pointed out that engaging in foreign legal services is an inevitable trend. She then introduced the foreign legal service team in Laos, as well as excellent cases and mineral investment legal service products. Mineral investment is an important investment for Chinese enterprises in Laos. So far, 108 Chinese companies (150 projects) have invested in mining in Laos. Lawyer Wang further explained the approval procedures and main processes for mineral investment. Lawyer Wang pointed out that the key to foreign legal services is to adhere to long-termism. This requires adapting to differences in customs, food, and language in foreign countries, as well as allowing foreign lawyers to settle in the local area and continue to work hard.

Lawyer Luo Jie first briefly introduced the team structure, advantages, and development needs of the Longan Bay Area Criminal Compliance Research Center. This center will fully utilize Longan’s regional and scale advantages to focus on professional areas such as intellectual property, cross-border e-commerce, internet data, the gaming industry, and tax services. Lawyer Luo introduced the legal service team “Qiming Criminal Defense” under his leadership. This team specializes in criminal legal matters, including criminal defense, criminal compliance, victim claims and representation, criminal property disposition, and reduction of damages. He also introduced excellent defense cases related to official crimes and economic crimes. Then, Lawyer Luo gave a presentation titled “Effective Defense Space in Official Crime Cases” through case-based explanations, sharing the team’s experience in making significant changes to cases through detailed defense strategies. Lawyer Luo pointed out that new laws in the “Twelfth Criminal Amendment” related to private enterprises, such as illegal business operations and illegal profit-making for relatives and friends, as well as money laundering issues in the context of bribery and bribery, are all new areas that can be explored in the field of official crimes.
