Recently, the “Mingfa Huizhi · Luidong Campus” Series Forum (Phase 1) – “Intellectual Property Rights Empower the Development of New Quality Productive Forces” was held by South China Agricultural University. Lawyer Ge Xiangrong, Deputy Director of the Management Committee and Senior Partner of Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm, Lawyer Wang Baoxin, Senior Partner of Longan Guangzhou, and Lawyer Liu Yanfeng, Partner of Longan Guangzhou, were invited to participate in the forum. The aim of the forum is to promote the deep integration of intellectual property rights and technological innovation, actively advance the construction of high-level intellectual property protection, and explore ways to cultivate innovative talents in universities.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, Ding Hongxing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of South China Agricultural University, Lin Haijun, Director of the Promotion Department of the Guangzhou Municipal Market Supervision and Administration Bureau (Intellectual Property Office), and Chen Jianhua, Vice President of the Guangdong Lawyers Association delivered speeches respectively. To deepen the “industry-university integration” education model and strengthen the connection between legal education and intellectual property practice, South China Agricultural University awarded certificates of Special Practical Mentor and External Practical Mentor to external experts.

Lawyer Wang Baoxin, Senior Partner of Longan Guangzhou, with his solid theoretical knowledge and rich practical experience, was appointed as a part-time practical mentor for law master students at the School of Humanities and Law of South China Agricultural University in January 2024. By referring to hot events such as the Labubu trademark and copyright infringement cases of artistic works, he systematically analyzed the challenges and solutions in intellectual property protection under the Internet-famous economy. Lawyer Liu Yanfeng used big data and typical cases to reveal industry problems, identified the “hardest areas” in intellectual property rights of Internet-famous brands, and then introduced strategies for intellectual property protection in e-commerce business. He proposed a systematic protection plan and, based on the typical cases he handled, described a multi-level relief system for intellectual property rights. During the roundtable session of the forum, teachers, lawyers, and representatives of enterprises from the School of Humanities and Law of South China Agricultural University discussed the topic of “Industry-university cooperation in intellectual property, and integration of industry and university education in practical work”. Lawyers Ge Xiangrong and Liu Yanfeng participated deeply in the discussion. They stated that intellectual property legal services are one of Longan’s benchmark professional areas. Longan Guangzhou will continue to leverage its advantages in intellectual property rights protection on e-commerce platforms and resolution of intellectual property disputes.
