From November 6 to 11, the Guangzhou High-Level Practical Training Series for Foreign-related Legal Service Talents (Phase 1), organized by the Guangzhou Lawyers Association, and undertaken by the Guangdong Foreign-related Lawyers College, the Foreign-related Legal Service Branch of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association, the International Public Interest Legal Service Association, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and the Guangzhou Law Business Development Research Institute, was successfully held in Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Lawyers Peng Jinqiao and Li Min, partners at Longan Guangzhou, passed through strict screening and English-interview processes and became one of the 38 trainees, completing the training successfully.

This training was held in Guangzhou and Hong Kong. In the Guangzhou part of the training, the content mainly covered the opportunities for mainland enterprises to expand overseas, how Chinese foreign-related lawyers assist clients in going overseas, and innovation and practice in foreign-related arbitration. During this training, Mr. Ho Chun-yau, a patriotic legislator from Hong Kong, was also invited to give a speech in English.

In the Hong Kong part of the training, the content mainly involved services provided by Hong Kong family offices, an introduction to the operations of the Hong Kong Gold and Silver Exchange, and the differences between common law and mainland law from the perspective of a Hong Kong counsel. Subsequently, in-depth exchanges took place among lawyers and counsel from the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and the three regions. During this period, the trainees also visited the Hong Kong Legislative Council, the Department of Justice, the Hong Kong MARA branch, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, and the Anti-fraud Center at the Hong Kong Police Headquarters.

Finally, they returned to Guangzhou to present the training outcomes. The group led by Lawyer Peng Jinqiao presented “Legal Needs and Policy Support of Foreign-related Enterprises from a Lawyer’s Perspective” in the form of a sitcom. Finally, all trainees of the Guangzhou High-Level Practical Training Series for Foreign-related Legal Service Talents (Phase 1) held a grand graduation ceremony in the auditorium of the Guangzhou Justice Bureau.

With the changes in the international situation and the strength of the motherland, the importance of foreign-related legal services has become increasingly evident. Foreign-related legal services not only relate to the interests of individuals and enterprises but may also affect the image and interests of the country. Profile of the Lawyer

Lawyer Peng Jinqiao

Lawyer Peng Jinqiao holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus. Before becoming a lawyer, Peng Jinqiao worked for six years at Allianz Property (China) Co., Ltd., the Chinese branch of the German Allianz Group. He served as the Director of the National Brokerage Channel and General Manager in Foshan. He handled various insurance matters such as cargo transportation insurance, ship insurance, liability insurance for directors and supervisors, liability insurance for export products of large small household appliance enterprises, liability insurance for products of large engineering enterprises, and travel insurance, as well as claims related to these issues.

After becoming a lawyer, Peng Jinqiao used his experience in foreign-funded insurance to handle various negotiations, litigation, and recovery matters related to insurance. These matters mainly involve maritime and commercial fields such as ships and cargo transportation, as well as property, machine damage, and profit loss issues of power enterprises. The total amount involved in these cases exceeds 100 million RMB. Trusted by clients, Peng Jinqiao also handled many marriage and family disputes and inheritance disputes. He also successfully determined guardians for disabled persons and elderly people living alone, and handled inheritance matters. At the same time, Peng Jinqiao serves as a permanent legal advisor or guest lecturer for several insurance brokers, insurance agents, and insurance assessors.

Lawyer Li Min holds a Master of Law degree from Ohio State University. She has qualifications in funds and securities law, performance brokerage qualifications, a senior energy audit and evaluation title, and a certificate for internal audit of intellectual property management systems. She has a background in Macao law and US intellectual property law. Her working languages include Cantonese, simplified and traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Spanish.

Lawyer Li is familiar with corporate legal matters and has extensive experience in the capital market, securities, private funds, entertainment law, corporate mergers and acquisitions and restructuring, investment and financing, civil and commercial litigation, and research on policies and regulations of Hainan Free Trade Port.
