SUMMER

Protection of Minors

Recently, Lawyer Chen Luowei, a researcher at the Longan Bay Area Criminal Compliance Research Center and the secretary-general of the Longan Guangzhou Youth Department, was invited to the Huadiwan campus of Guangdong Experimental Middle School Liwan School. He gave a special lecture on “Cybersecurity Education and Self-Protection for Minors” to the first-year junior high school students.

Before the lecture, Lawyer Chen Luowei conducted a small pre-class survey to understand the students’ internet usage and interacted with them briefly. Then, through various scenarios such as AI-generated images and team-based games, Lawyer Chen Luowei explained the current state of the internet in a lively and interesting way, helping the students deeply understand why they need to know about cybersecurity knowledge.

Lawyer Chen Luowei said that when using the internet daily, many personal information are involved, and dangers often occur unintentionally. Therefore, the protection of minors’ personal information can be achieved through these six key points: carefully provide personal information, be cautious when posting content containing personal information; inform parents or teachers after providing personal information; promptly inform parents or teachers if personal information is leaked, without hiding it due to fear; delete traces of personal information in a timely manner; and do not keep personal biometric information unless necessary.

During this lecture, Lawyer Chen Luowei also discussed related issues of online fraud prevention. In a simple and easy-to-understand way, Lawyer Chen told the students to be careful of online scams such as诱导充值, star following and ranking, love traps, and order flipping for rewards. The first principle is “not making payments to strangers”. At the same time, Lawyer Chen advised the students not to become accomplices to online violence. When they encounter online violence, they should know how to protect themselves and seek help from parents and teachers promptly.

On-site

With his professional legal explanations and interesting case analyses, Lawyer Chen Luowei conveyed the role of law in protecting their rights and interests to the students. He guided them to take correct measures in the face of potential dangers, ensuring their physical and mental health and legal rights are fully protected. This lecture was widely praised by the teachers and students of the first-year junior high school at the Huadiwan campus of Guangdong Experimental Middle School Liwan School. In the future, Longan Guangzhou will continue to organize more public welfare lectures on various topics, entering schools, communities, and enterprises, striving to make the light of the rule of law shine in every corner.
