The first session was conducted by lawyer Xiao Minran for all students in the first grade of junior high school at Guangzhou Xiguan Foreign Language School. The theme was “A Mini-Class on the Rule of Law – Understanding Legal Knowledge and Protecting the Healthy Growth of Minors”. During the session, lawyer Xiao explained various aspects related to the criminal responsibility age system, the civil rights and obligations of minors, and school bullying, which are important aspects of the legal protection for minors.
First, lawyer Xiao used case studies to explain the concept of the criminal responsibility age in detail. This helped the students understand the criminal legal responsibilities that minors of different ages might bear. It made them realize that even as minors, their actions are subject to legal constraints. The status of being a minor is not a guarantee of exemption from criminal responsibility. As excellent students at Xiguan Foreign Language School, they should be responsible for their actions, respect the law, and actively fight against illegal acts. During the interactive part, the students actively spoke up, sharing their views on the criminal responsibility age system.
