Recently, selected by the Guangdong Province Lawyers Association, Lawyer Yang Lun from Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm, as a representative of foreign-related lawyers in the province, attended a specialized training on cross-border dispute resolution organized jointly by the Guangdong Province Lawyers Association, the Singapore Ministry of Law, and the Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC) in Singapore. He successfully completed the training.

This training lasted for a week. It was the first specialized training on cross-border dispute resolution jointly organized by the Guangdong Province Lawyers Association and the Singapore International Arbitration Center. It was also the first time that the Singapore International Arbitration Center organized such a training for lawyers from countries outside Singapore. There were only thirty participants in this training. They were selected from lawyers from twenty-one city and district law firms in Guangdong Province by the Guangdong Province Lawyers Association.

The training had a strong faculty. The lecturer team was carefully selected by the Singapore International Arbitration Center. It included well-known senior arbitrators in Singapore, law professors, and senior lawyers from leading law firms in Singapore. Among them were Lawrence Boo, former vice-chairman of the Singapore International Arbitration Center; Hee Theng Fong, an independent arbitrator; and Joan Lim-Casanova, partner and director of Highgate Strait Law Firm.

Zhou Xuan, vice president of the Guangdong Province Lawyers Association, and Ms. Gloria Lim, CEO of SIAC, took photos with the participants during the opening ceremony.

The content of this training was based on the latest revised arbitration rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Center in 2025. The training focused on the newly established Streamlined Procedure and the significantly revised Expedited Procedure. Emphasis was also placed on training participants in the aspects of evidence disclosure and witness questioning, which are less commonly involved in domestic litigation and arbitration procedures. Additionally, simulated hearing exercises were conducted regarding the newly established Preliminary Protection Order and Emergency Arbitrator. In addition, considering the increasing activities of Chinese enterprises in ASEAN countries, the training also covered the procedures and legal practices related to the enforcement of foreign arbitration awards in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Myanmar.

Lawyer Yang Lun participated in simulated emergency arbitrator hearings.

Mr. Hee Theng Fong, an independent arbitrator, and Joan Lim-Casanova, partner and director of Highgate Strait Law Firm, commented on the simulated emergency arbitrator hearings.

Ms. Gloria Lim, CEO of SIAC, presented the completion certificate to Lawyer Yang Lun.

During his stay in Singapore, Lawyer Yang Lun visited institutions such as the Singapore Ministry of Law, the Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC), the Singapore International Mediation Center (SIMC), the Singapore Maritime Arbitration Authority (SCMA), and the Singapore Law Society. In addition, Lawyer Yang Lun was invited to meet with lawyers from the “Big Four” law firms in Singapore, such as Rajah & Tann, Allen & Gledhill, and Drew & Napier. He also visited the well-known elite law firm Singapore Yizheng Law Firm.

This selection of Lawyer Yang Lun as a representative of the Guangdong Province Lawyers Association to participate in the training organized by the Singapore International Arbitration Center indicates that the services and influence of Longan Guangzhou lawyers in foreign-related legal services and enterprise expansion in the province have been widely recognized. This training also enhances Longan Guangzhou lawyers’ cooperation network in Southeast Asian regions such as Singapore. In the future, Longan Guangzhou will continue to encourage and support lawyers to deepen their expertise in foreign-related legal services, enhance their professional capabilities, and deepen international exchanges and cooperation, providing clients with high-quality and high-level legal services with both professional depth and a global perspective.
