To welcome World Book Day, deepen the cultural construction of the law firm, and fulfill social responsibilities, on April 23, Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm successfully held a April 23 Book Sharing Event. Love certificates and gifts for the “Book for Vegetables · Public Welfare Book Donation” activity were presented on site. By reading, people can enhance their growth, and through public welfare, warmth can be spread. This event was hosted by Lawyer Liu Qingwei, a senior partner of Longan Guangzhou and president of the reading club. Lawyers Zhan Shangli and Wang Jing shared their reading insights, while Lawyer Li Boyang shared practical AI reading skills. All colleagues gathered together to embrace the fragrance of books and fulfill their responsibilities in public welfare.

In the opening speech, Lawyer Liu Qingwei said that reading is an important way for legal professionals to improve their professional skills and cultivate humanistic feelings. Longan Guangzhou always attaches importance to cultural construction. As an important cultural carrier of the law firm, the reading club aims to create a platform for colleagues to communicate, learn, and progress together. This event combines book sharing with public welfare practice. It not only reflects the response to World Book Day but also demonstrates the law firm’s fulfillment of social responsibilities. It is hoped that all colleagues will spread love and fulfill their mission through public welfare; they will exchange ideas and grow through the fragrance of books.

Presentation of Love Certificates

During the subsequent session for presenting love certificates for the “Book for Vegetables · Public Welfare Book Donation” activity, Lawyer Liu Qingwei presented love certificates and heartwarming fruit and vegetable gifts to each donor. He said that the active participation of all colleagues allows idle books to gain new value, helping more people in need. These small acts of kindness demonstrate the social responsibilities and commitment of the people of Longan. Since the public welfare book donation activity started two weeks ago, it has received enthusiastic responses from colleagues in the law firm. So far, nearly 50 books have been collected. All donated books will be collected and organized by the Longan Guangzhou Reading Club before being donated to the Tencent Public Welfare platform.

Sharing of Reading Insights

Lawyer Zhan Shangli shared his reading insights from the classic psychology book “The Attachment Trilogy”. He explained in detail the three attachment patterns: secure, anxious, and avoidant. He also explained the core concepts such as internal working models, the three stages of separation, and grief healing. He revealed the profound impact of attachment theory on self-perception and interpersonal relationships. Lawyer Zhan pointed out that attachment patterns affect people throughout their lives, influencing emotional expression, behavior, and intimate relationships. Understanding attachment helps us recognize our internal patterns, face our true needs, and deal with loss and farewell properly, allowing us to understand and tolerate others better in relationships.

Lawyer Wang Jing focused on the classic Chinese book “The Analects of Confucius” and shared her insights around two themes: learning and making friends. Using phrases like “study and practice from time to time” and “three friends who are beneficial”, she explained the wisdom of diligent study and choosing the good. She recommended “Four Books Commentary” and “Analects Translation” as additional reading materials to help people understand the original text better. She said that studying classics allows us to absorb the nutrients of traditional culture, guiding us to cultivate virtue, be humble, and achieve spiritual growth and character improvement through reading.

Sharing on AI Reading

Lawyer Li Boyang shared his insights on the theme “What remains of the meaning of human reading when AI can read 500 pages of a book in 3 seconds?” He introduced practical methods of AI reading and pointed out that using AI to extract information, structure it, and answer questions in real time can help legal professionals efficiently handle large amounts of documents, improving learning and work efficiency. He also emphasized that AI cannot replace human reading. The core of human reading lies in the process of thinking, emotional connection, and insights. This is also key to developing legal thinking. He suggested that people should focus on practical applications in AI learning, read official documents first, and share the computer skills needed for AI learning on site.

This event combines book sharing with public welfare practice. It enriches the cultural atmosphere of Longan Guangzhou, creates a platform for colleagues to communicate, learn, and progress together, and fulfills the law firm’s social responsibilities. It spreads warmth and positive energy, further strengthening the cultural atmosphere of Longan Guangzhou, which emphasizes “cultivating oneself and helping others, achieving self-improvement and benefiting others”.

In the future, Longan Guangzhou will continue to carry out such cultural and public welfare activities regularly. It encourages all colleagues to make friends with books, promote learning through reading, and practice kindness. They should embrace AI technology, improve digital skills, and continuously enhance their professional skills and humanistic feelings, contributing to the development of the legal system and the high-quality development of society.
