Special Presentation

Lawyer Wei Guoxiang

Senior partner at Longan Guangzhou and member of the assessment committee of the Guangzhou Bar Association

Lawyer Wei Guoxiang has rich experience in assessing trainee lawyers. As a member of the assessment committee of the Guangzhou Bar Association, he shared his insights on the theme of “The Path to Advancement for Trainee Lawyers”. Lawyer Wei started with matters to be noted during the internship period. He mentioned that practical training during the internship should be emphasized, while actions prohibited by regulations such as the “Internship Management Measures for People Applying to Practice Law in Guangdong Province” should be avoided. When reviewing cases, it is important to incorporate experiences, lessons, and shortcomings, and to focus on improving practical skills such as client communication, team collaboration, litigation procedures, and courtroom interactions.

When preparing internship materials, Lawyer Wei suggested that the content should be detailed and professional, including contract agreements, letters, power of attorney, lawsuits, defenses, arguments, judgments, awards, etc. The documents should be well-presented, such as being bound in books with indexes and page numbers. Regarding matters to be prepared before the interview, Lawyer Wei recommended maintaining a calm and confident attitude, and presenting a proper and professional professional image.

Next, Lawyer Wei discussed the basic process of the interview assessment, the requirements for basic professional skills, the key points of ideological and political quality and professional discipline, and other matters to be noted. He reminded trainee lawyers to prepare a self-introduction in advance during the internship interview assessment, to keep a smile during the interview, to be confident, and to dress properly. Finally, Lawyer Wei answered in detail the questions raised by the present trainee lawyers, such as the impact of past work experience, whether unresolved cases can be submitted, and how to deal with questions about document materials.

The “The Path to Advancement for Interns” series of training activities at Longan Guangzhou have been held for four consecutive years and have become one of the important activities regularly carried out by the law firm every year. Through the authoritative interpretation by Lawyer Wei Guoxiang, a member of the assessment committee of the Guangzhou Bar Association, this event has helped many trainee lawyers better understand the key points and blind spots of the internship assessment, promoting their development of professional skills and confidence in practice, and enabling them to successfully handle internship interviews. In the future, Longan Guangzhou will continue to deepen the empowerment value of the “Jixinghui” series of activities for the Youth Lawyers Department, build a more complete ecosystem for the growth of young lawyers, and provide more excellent legal professionals with both professional ability and professional integrity to the industry.
