On October 19, 2024, the “Intellectual Debate at Pujiang, Legal Conflict – 2024 Longan National Lawyers (Criminal) Debate Competition”, organized by the Longan Development Fund Council and hosted by Beijing Longan (Shanghai) Law Firm, successfully concluded in Shanghai! The Longan Guangzhou debate team, composed of lawyers Roger, Chen Luoyu, and Chen Changqin from Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm, won three consecutive victories in the debates and emerged as the champion. Lawyer Chen Changqin also received the title of Best Debater in a single match!

First Debate: Longan Guangzhou vs. Longan Hefei

In the first debate, Longan Guangzhou faced Longan Hefei. The two teams engaged in a fierce debate over whether Zhang Mou constituted a crime of omission. Lawyer Chen Changqin, the first debater of Longan Guangzhou, along with lawyers Chen Luoyu and Roger, worked together effectively, presenting a well-structured argument. In this intense competition with Hefei, Longan Guangzhou won the first match and advanced to the second round. Lawyer Chen Changqin was awarded the title of Best Debater in this match.

Second Debate: Longan Guangzhou vs. Longan Shanghai

During the break, Longan Guangzhou quickly prepared for the second debate. In the second round, Longan Guangzhou and Longan Shanghai debated over whether parents’ crimes could be a factor in children’s work. As the defending team, Longan Guangzhou used a “policy perspective” against the opposing “value perspective”. With its unique approach and teamwork, Longan Guangzhou won the second match and advanced to the final! Lawyer Chen Changqin once again became the Best Debater in this match.

Final: Longan Guangzhou vs. Longan Shenzhen

In the final, Longan Guangzhou and Longan Shenzhen competed fiercely over whether torture could be used to obtain information about bombs. Longan Guangzhou built a clear logical framework around the idea that it would not use torture to obtain information. Through intense debates, Longan Guangzhou won the championship.

Roger Lawyer

Roger is the deputy director and secretary-general of the Longan Bay Criminal Compliance Research Center. He is a senior partner at Longan Guangzhou. He holds a bachelor’s degree in law and a master’s degree in criminal law from Southwest University of Political Science and Law. He is a member of the Communist Party and has 10 years of legal experience. He serves as the deputy secretary-general and member of the Professional Committee on Offense Law of the Guangdong Province and Guangzhou Law Firms. He specializes in criminal matters and founded the Qiming Criminal Defense Team with other like-minded lawyers. Chen Luoyu Lawyer

Chen Luoyu is a full-time lawyer at Beijing Longan (Guangzhou) Law Firm. She is a researcher at the Longan Bay Criminal Compliance Research Center and the secretary-general of the Longan Guangzhou Youth Department.
