On January 6, 2025, the event “Youth Journey: Boiling Wine Around the Fire, Night talks under the starry sky – Escape from the world for two hours” hosted by the Longan Guangzhou Youth Department was successfully held! Young lawyers from Longan Guangzhou gathered under the starry sky on New Year’s night, drinking wine and chatting in a relaxed atmosphere. They temporarily set aside their work responsibilities and life pressures, giving themselves time to enjoy a “two-hour escape from the world”. Lawyer Liu Xin, the director of the Longan Guangzhou Management Committee who self-mock as being “too old”, brought a small gift for this event and participated in the night talk session with great enthusiasm. He shared his thoughts and expectations regarding “Will everything be okay in 2025?”.

Before the event started, the law firm prepared a delicious dinner for all participants! Pizza,奥尔良 chicken wings, fried chicken, tiramisu, egg tarts, layered cakes, soda, and various snacks and fruits. The colleagues also brought a lot of drinks voluntarily.

Lawyer Chen Luowei, the secretary-general of the Longan Guangzhou Youth Department, served as the host of this event. Lawyer Chen mentioned that looking back at the past year, there were achievements and shortcomings, but it is great that we are still moving forward. So, on the evening of the end of the year, let’s switch off from business pressures, take a break, and escape from the world for two hours together – let’s talk about the stories that happened during this year. Close the windows to keep out the cold air, and drink wine around the fire under the bright starry sky. A hot drink, a gift, a story, and a group of friends who get along well. I hope the warm steam can bring a pleasant and relaxed mood to this special winter night. We also prepared some interesting activities, and we hope everyone will participate.

Boiling Wine Around the Fire

A large pot of sweet hot red wine was prepared at the event site. Each small table was also equipped with a pot and a stove, along with ingredients and sliced fruits. Everyone sat around the warm stove and tried to make wine in their own way. In a slightly drunk atmosphere, the lawyers spoke freely, sharing their life stories and work experiences.

Gift Exchange

Through a draw, the participants exchanged gifts randomly. Some people chose tea: Fujian Bai Mudan tea and Jiangxi dogduan green tea were exchanged, allowing us to try a different type of tea and meet a tea enthusiast. Here, gifts were exchanged in a wonderful way: magic-themed book stands and ginseng sets, special tea bowls from Yunnan and sweet, crispy biscuits, snack packages and Starbucks cups, aromatherapy and books, and books and alpaca dolls (yes, books are always a part of the Youth Journey events 😉). Gifts became a medium for breaking down boundaries and getting to know each other, and also a connection for deeper understanding.

Interactive Games

During the interactive game session, under the guidance of Lawyer Chen Luowei, the lawyers were divided into two groups, A and B, and played the game “Decoding the Mind’s密码”. Each group had a set of words, and they tried to decode the order of the words. The group that decoded the words first won. After some logical reasoning and information integration, Group A decoded the password first and won the competition.

During the night talk session, the participants shared their experiences in 2024 and their expectations for 2025. They opened up their hearts, told their stories, and listened to others’ stories. The distance between them decreased unnoticed.

Will everything be okay in 2025? The current situation will likely continue for some time, but we can see that all parties, especially the government, are trying their best to move in a positive direction. This is a good start. For the legal profession, increasing competition and rapid technological development may cause anxiety and confusion. But anxiety and confusion are meaningless. What’s important is to do every thing properly. On the basis of continuously improving professional skills, we should be able to work smoothly and happily. What the law firm can do is to make 2025 better in terms of systems and implementation. But all institutional support and cultural integration are mutual. I hope everyone will participate in more activities and show themselves, so that their image and professionalism are known, and their knowledge and resources can benefit others. This will help the law firm’s marketing and services to empower lawyers better.

The most important thing in 2024 was that I became a mother, achieving a goal I defined for myself. Although there were many plans that weren’t realized in 2024, and some new marketing and promotion methods weren’t done, I think the health of my baby is worth everything. If 2024 could be repeated, without any changes, I don’t regret any of my choices.

How can we define “getting better”? In 2025, I believe everything will become more free. It’s more of a desirable expectation than a real judgment. Freedom means that no matter what we choose to do, we have more choices.

My summary of 2024 is: first, traveling with my parents; second, completing the renovation; third, transitioning as an independent lawyer. In 2024, there was likely a lot of confusion and anxiety, but overall, it was successful. If I could start this step earlier, I hope I could do it.

The Youth Journey “Boiling Wine Around the Fire, Night talks under the starry sky – Escape from the world for two hours” provided a platform for lawyers in Longan Guangzhou to get away from work pressures and return to life’s essence. During those two hours, they gave themselves time to reflect on their lives and inner selves, and they gained warmth and emotion. In the future, the Longan Guangzhou Youth Department will continue to organize more such events, allowing lawyers to have beautiful times outside of their busy work, and to work with a more positive attitude, providing better legal services to clients.
