In order to further improve the theoretical level and practical capabilities of Longan young lawyers, the “Young Lawyers Lecture Hall” Session 3, organized by the Longan Guangzhou Youth Department, was successfully held on August 28! This event featured three outstanding young lawyers—Lawyer Pan Yanxi, Lawyer Guo Fuyu, and Lawyer Chen Hongyin—who shared their experiences in legal aid, professional development, and practical innovations. Three senior partners from Longan Guangzhou—Lawyer Ge Xiangrong, Lawyer Li Wenxiao, and Lawyer Liu Qingwei—were specially invited as guest speakers, with Lawyer Chen Zhongtao, a member of the Youth Department, serving as the host.

Lawyer Chen Zhongtao

Member of the Longan Guangzhou Youth Department

Lawyer Chen Zhongtao first expressed gratitude to all the lawyers present at the event. Lawyer Chen mentioned that today was the third session of the “Young Lawyers Lecture Hall”, and several outstanding young lawyers were invited to share their insights on practical aspects of legal aid cases, the bankruptcy paths for debtors, and how unmarried lawyers handle family law matters. The goal was to promote the sharing and exchange of legal knowledge and professional experience among young lawyers.

Lawyer Pan Yanxi

Lawyer Pan Yanxi shared her insights on “The Process of Handling Legal Aid Cases.” Drawing on her own experience in handling legal aid cases, she first explained the conditions and forms for applying for legal aid, as well as the basic requirements for becoming a legal aid lawyer, such as annual performance results, years of practice, and the number of cases handled. Then, she briefly introduced the basic data of legal aid cases, mainly involving labor disputes, tort claims, and family law issues. Next, she explained the procedures for becoming a legal aid lawyer and the basic process of handling such cases. Lawyer Pan emphasized that when handling legal aid cases, it is important to provide proper service to the beneficiaries, demonstrating one’s professional skills, as this may lead to future cases for other legal issues.

Lawyer Guo Fuyu

Lawyer Guo Fuyu shared insights on “The Application of Bankruptcy Paths for Debtors.” He first introduced the basic requirements, procedures, and paths for bankruptcy. Lawyer Guo said that the bankruptcy system can freeze debt relationships promptly, prevent debt expansion, and protect debtors fairly, helping companies restructure their debts and adjust their business strategies. He pointed out that bankruptcy should not be simply seen as a synonym for business failure, but rather a necessary legal mechanism in a market economy. Then, he discussed the factors to consider when applying for bankruptcy: the quality and liquidity of assets, the possibility of business recovery, the willingness and acceptance of creditors, and legal procedures. Using his experience with bankruptcy liquidation/restructuring cases, he said that as a representative lawyer for debtors, it is important to adapt to the situation, start the appropriate bankruptcy procedures, and find the right bankruptcy path for the debtor, thereby resolving debt issues properly.

Lawyer Chen Hongyin

With the theme of “The Experience of Unmarried Lawyers Handling Family Law Matters,” Lawyer Chen Hongyin shared his thoughts on handling family law cases by unmarried lawyers. He first introduced the characteristics of family law matters, as well as the basic content, development process, and principles of the family law section in the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China. Then, he explained the basics of divorce by agreement and litigation, and emphasized his insights and experiences in handling family law cases. Lawyer Chen said that family law disputes involve emotional and legal aspects, and lawyers need to be empathetic while remaining rational, avoiding emotional involvement. Details are important, and risk awareness is crucial (such as signing lists of joint assets). Additionally, it is important to communicate with the parties, identify and summarize their emotions, guide them to express themselves clearly, and provide honest and timely feedback.

After the sharing, the guests discussed issues such as the transformation of legal aid cases, corporate pre-restructuring, and inheritance matters with Lawyer Pan Yanxi, Lawyer Guo Fuyu, and Lawyer Chen Hongyin. Subsequently, Lawyers Li Wenxiao, Liu Qingwei, and Ge Xiangrong provided detailed comments on the styles, themes, and experiences of the three young lawyers.

In the final part of the event, hosted by Lawyer Chen Zhongtao, the guests voted for three awards. The Best Knowledge Sharing Award went to Lawyer Guo Fuyu, the Best Style Award to Lawyer Pan Yanxi, and the Most Popular Award to Lawyer Chen Hongyin.

This third session of the “Young Lawyers Lecture Hall” focused on legal aid, legal practice, and professional experiences among young lawyers. It promoted discussions among young lawyers on legal professionalism and public service, allowing people to understand the innovative, diverse, and thoughtful young people of Longan. The “Young Lawyers Lecture Hall” aims to create a platform for knowledge sharing and experience exchange, promoting mutual learning and growth among young lawyers.
